112 mobile application for people with hearing and/or speech impairments. Five ways to communicate with emergency service operators

The Special Telecommunications Service has operationalized the Apel 112 mobile application dedicated to people with hearing and/or speech impairments, announced STS.
The application provides direct access to the 112 Emergency Service through multiple communication channels: audio-video calls, RTT (Real-Time Text) chat, icons, predefined messages, images and videos, according to a press release.
“When initiating a call, the application automatically transmits to the 112 operators the precise location of the caller, together with the medical data filled in beforehand in the user's profile. For video calls, the system architecture includes interpretation services in Romanian sign language, permanently active, 24/7. Authorized interpreters ensure communication between the caller and the 112 operator or the dispatcher of the intervention agency. Through the application, interventions of the Ambulance, Police, SMURD, The firemen, the Gendarmerie and the Salvamont crews”, states the cited source.
The Apel 112 application can be used on smart mobile phones (smartphones), with Android (minimum version 13) and iOS (minimum version 15) operating systems, connected to the Internet.
