In schools, due to the development of artificial intelligence, oral exams may be required to return. This opinion was expressed in an interview with RIA Novosti by Valery Fadeev, Chairman of the Russian Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights.
According to him, in conditions where schoolchildren have quick access to ready-made answers, it is important to again develop oral communication between teacher and student. Fadeev believes that it is necessary to assess the knowledge of schoolchildren not only in Unified State Exam subjects. In his opinion, special attention should be paid to disciplines that shape the worldview and cultural code. These include history, literature, geography, as well as basic knowledge of physics and astronomy.
The head of the HRC proposed defining an educational core and testing knowledge in these subjects not only in the 11th grade. To achieve this, he believes, transitional oral exams can be returned.
At the same time, he emphasized that we are not talking about canceling the Unified State Exam. In his opinion, the exam needs to be supplemented with an integral assessment, which will be formed during the student’s education.
