Eugen Tomac, new round of negotiations to support the Government. The party excluded from the discussions

The prime minister-designate, Eugen Tomac, continues the discussions with the parliamentarians during Tuesday, in order to obtain the necessary support for the investiture of the Government, according to News.ro.

The first with whom he will have discussions on the second day of negotiations, starting at 10.00 am, are the representatives of the UDMR.

Later, Tomac will also talk with other parliamentarians, as follows:

  • 15.00, Group of National Minorities
  • 16.00, United for Romania
  • 17.00, PEACE
  • 18.00, POT

Also, the designated prime minister will also discuss with non-affiliated members of Parliament.

Asked, Monday evening, on Antena 3, if he will also negotiate with AUR, Eugen Tomac stated: “I have no reason to discuss with parties that vote against Romania's national interest”.

Tomac, “confident” that you will get the necessary votes in Parliament

However, he declared himself convinced that he will gather the 233 votes necessary for the investiture of the Government.

“I am confident that on the day of the vote more than 233 members of the Romanian Parliament will give us the confidence to go… (…) I am convinced that I will succeed in convincing more than 233 parliamentarians”, declared Tomac.

The designated prime minister added that he will have three deputy prime ministers, one for Education, another for Economy and one for Digitization.

What names appear on the list of ministers of the Tomac Government

On Monday evening, on Antena 3 CNN, the designated prime minister presented some of the names of the ministers who will be in the cabinet that he will propose to the Parliament.

Among those already established, Tomac mentioned presidential advisor Sorin Costreie for Education, Romania's ambassador to NATO, Dan Neculăescu, for Defense, Luca Niculescu for Foreign Affairs and sociologist Vladimir Ionaş for the Ministry of Development.

At the Ministry of Agriculture, Tomac announced the appointment of university professor Nicolae Istudor, rector of the Academy of Economic Studies (ASE) in Bucharest.

“At the Ministry of Health we have several options, I will determine during the week. I have not determined at the Ministry of Finance either,” he stated.

The vote will be “most likely” on Monday

Teodor Dulceață, deputy general secretary of the institution, was nominated for the Ministry of the Environment.

On Monday, Tomac discussed with representatives of PNL, PSD and USR.

The MEP stated that he is going to finalize the Cabinet formula by Wednesday at the latest, saying that he wants to have at least two or three proposals for each ministry, because he wants to go to Parliament with a government of professionals, technically, not a political one.

Tomac estimated that “most likely at the beginning of next week we will be able to go to the Parliament for the investiture vote”.
