Now about a third of European households have gas stoves. When used, they release nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter, which cause respiratory diseases and lead to premature death, the material notes.
In addition, stoves emit greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide, which contribute to climate change.
“From a public health perspective, gas stoves are toxic,” study lead author Juana Maria Delgado-Saborit told Bloomberg.
