Now about a third of European households have gas stoves. When used, they release nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter, which cause respiratory diseases and lead to premature death, the material notes.

“From a public health perspective, gas stoves are toxic,” study lead author Juana Maria Delgado-Saborit told Bloomberg.
