More than 100 Krasnoyarsk residents took part in the environmental campaign “Clean Bazaikha”

The annual environmental campaign “Clean Bazaikha” took place in Krasnoyarsk. This year it is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Beaver Log.
150 people took part in cleaning the banks of the river and the ecological trail at the upper station of the K1 cable car. The action was joined by corporate volunteers of Norilsk Nickel from the Yenisei River Shipping Company, representatives of the Krasnoyarsk Pillars National Park, employees of Funpark, public organizations, as well as concerned residents of the city. After the cleaning was completed, all collected garbage – 120 bags – was removed from the territory.
The environmental campaign has been held since 2022 as part of the eco-marathon “Here we go!” Norilsk Nickel company. According to the general director of the Bobrovy Log Funpark, Valery Ilyichev, the idea for the project appeared after employees paid attention to the condition of the river banks.
“At one time we saw that along Bazaikha there were places where garbage accumulated. Therefore, we decided to organize an environmental action aimed at cleaning the river and the surrounding area. Today it has already become traditional and annually attracts more than a hundred participants. This year, this event, like all the others that take place here, is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of Beaver Log. We are constantly working to improve Funpark. Over the years, it has transformed from a local city ski resort into a world-class resort,” said Valery Ilyichev.
Among the participants of the action were both regular volunteers and those who joined for the first time. A student of the Krasnoyarsk Art School named after Vasily Surikov, Lisa, who came to clean up with friends, admitted that the new experience was not only useful for her, but also unexpectedly exciting.
“It is important to help keep these recreational areas clean. And then it’s more pleasant for people to be here, and you yourself feel good because you’ve done something useful. We really liked it, so if they invite us again, we will definitely come,” the girl shared.
Various environmental projects on the territory of Funpark have been implemented since 2011, and since 2018, Bobrovy Log and the Krasnoyarsk Pillars National Park have been transformed with the participation of Norilsk Nickel corporate volunteers. They carry out not only cleaning, but also improvement of tourist routes and natural sites.
According to Elena Kharlamova, Deputy Director for Communications of the Krasnoyarsk Representative Office of Norilsk Nickel, this work is now reaching a new level:
“Norilsk Nickel has been implementing volunteer projects in Krasnoyarsk for many years. For the company, this activity is an important tool for building the social capital of the territory, and now our main task is to create a sustainable environment for corporate volunteering in Krasnoyarsk. We will set up systematic work with the participation of the National Council for Corporate Volunteering, our friends and partners, representatives of business, government and urban communities, as well as involving even more of our employees. The next important event awaiting Krasnoyarsk will be the opening of the Scientific Volunteer Center of the Norilsk Nickel company at Krasnoyarsk Pillars.”

The main result of the “Clean Bazaikha” campaign is the development of a culture of respect for nature. Compared to the first years of the campaign, there is less garbage. This is confirmed by regular participants in environmental events. Veterans Council representative Zinaida Pergunova, who has been taking part in such events for many years, says that the difference is noticeable to the naked eye.
“In the first years there was much more garbage. Now people have become more attentive to nature. It’s very pleasing that schoolchildren, students and young employees of enterprises come to clean together with the veterans,” she said.
Let us add that over two decades, the territory of the Bobrovy Log Funpark, where the first passenger cable car in Siberia was built, has turned into a modern all-season resort within the boundaries of Krasnoyarsk. Today, they not only develop tourism infrastructure, but also pay great attention to preserving the environment and supporting environmental initiatives.
