The Ukrainian military took fire control of the Donetsk airport. Video

Soldiers of the 1st separate center for unmanned systems of the Ukrainian Armed Forces took fire control of the Donetsk airport as part of an operation that was called the first of its type in modern history. The unit’s press service announced this on Instagram on June 4.

According to military personnel, Russian troops have turned the DAP territory into a military logistics hub and a launch site for Shahed-type attack drones. In response, Ukrainian drone operators are allegedly systematically destroying launchers, vehicles, engineering equipment, tankers, warehouses and other elements of the airfield infrastructure.

The fighters also reported the defeat of mobile fire groups and air defense systems of the occupiers, which should complicate or force the cancellation of sorties.

The unit explained that such activity led to the “degradation of the airfield ecosystem” and the virtual absence of the possibility of using the airfield as a safe base for Russian forces.

“The fire control of the DAP, which was carried out by the 1st OC, is an example of an asymmetric operation in which the enemy’s operational-strategic plans were thwarted exclusively by small forces. This is what makes us, us,” said officer of the 1st separate SBS center Seraphim Gordienko (Falko), who is responsible for planning the operation.

The military added that a safe rear for the Russian occupation forces no longer exists.
