Jannik Sinner (24), the leader of the ATP ranking, was surprised on Monday at the San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, where he underwent further medical investigations to find out the cause of the health problems that affected him during second round match at Roland Garros.

The Italian surprisingly left the competition after a defeat to Argentina's Juan Manuel Cerundolo (24 years old, 45 ATP), score 6-3, 6-2, 5-7, 1-6, 1-6.

After the elimination in Paris, Sinner spent a few days of vacation in Sardinia with his girlfriend, Laila Hasanovic. However, the relaxation was interrupted by new medical checks.

The presence of the world leader at one of the most famous medical facilities in Italy immediately attracted the attention of the Peninsula's media. Sinner tries to find out what caused the poor physical condition that affected him in the match with Cerundolo. Until this moment, the results of the investigations have not been officially communicated.

Considered the main favorite to win the trophy at Roland Garros, Sinner arrived in Paris on the back of an excellent run in which he had collected five consecutive ATP Masters 1000 titles.

After an emotionless debut in the first round (6-1, 6-3, 6-4 with Tabur), the Italian seemed to be heading for another clear victory. He was leading 6-3, 6-2, 5-3 and was going to serve for the match, but from that point on his game collapsed.

Visibly physically affected, Sinner won only two more games until the end, and Cerundolo spectacularly turned the game around and prevailed 3-6, 2-6, 7-5, 6-1, 6-1.

Initially, many specialists attributed the Italian's difficulties to the high temperatures in the French capital. At the post-match press conference, however, Sinner explained that the problems had started since the morning of that day.

I felt sick, dizzy and had no energy at all. I couldn't get anything. I tried to serve for the match, but I was out of resources.

Winner of four Grand Slam titles, Sinner is expected to return to practice on Wednesday to begin preparation for the grass court season.

The Italian will have a longer break between Roland Garros and Wimbledon as he has not entered any tournaments ahead of his third Grand Slam of the year.
