❗️All over Ukraine, a collection of signatures was announced to make Vyshyvanka Day a public holiday
The non-governmental organization “Protection of the State” initiates granting the Day of Vyshyvanka the status of a state holiday. For this purpose, a collection of signatures for an appeal to the Verkhovna Rada was announced in all regions. The NGO proposes to legislate the third Thursday of May as an official state holiday – Vyshyvanka Day.
📝 It will be possible to sign the initiative during May 14-20 at the nearest office of the NGO “Protection of the State” (office addresses can be found here), and also on Vyshyvanka Day itself, May 21, at thematic photo locationswhich “Defense of the State” will install in the central parts of all regional centers.
Vyshyvanka Day has long become an informal symbol of the unity of Ukrainians all over the world. Every year it is celebrated in more than 100 countries, and the embroidery itself has become a sign of Ukrainian identity, memory and indomitability.
