“Romanians from the Republic of Moldova voted free. The large number of people who voted in the Republic of Moldova for the presidential elections in Romania show how much they care about the future of Romania. The election campaigns can be accompanied by tensions and emotions, but out of respect for all Romanian citizens, we call on the political actors to avoid the accusations. said the spokesman of the Chisinau Government, Daniel Voda.

The accusations of the alliance leader for the union of Romanians (gold)

George Simion, the leader of Gold, announced that he will challenge the result of the presidential elections, claiming that, in the second round of May 18, there would have been interference from the Republic of Moldova and France. Moreover, the golden leader, who has a ban on entering the neighboring country, accuses Chisinau of allocating 100 million euros to influence the vote.

We will act on the legal ways, and internally and internationally, for our movement to win. So, for exactly the reasons mentioned in the CCR decision of December 6, 2024, I, as an electoral competitor, will write to the Constitutional Court and ask the election to cancel. Why? Because it was about buying votes! 100 million euros was the budget allocated in the Republic of Moldova, only, for electoral tourism and for the purchase of the will of the Bessarabian Romanians who have been unfairly deaconed in the last week. Because they used administrative resources of another state, to cancel the elections. Because deceased people voted in the poll of May 18 and no calculations in the world can show us that over 11,500,000 Romanians were voting ”, said the loser of presidential elections.

Participation record

In the second round of the presidential election on May 18, over 158,100 Romanian citizens from the Republic of Moldova voted, this being a record of participation. The number is considerably higher than the first round, when 90,851 Moldovans with Romanian citizenship have exercised their right to vote.

The winner of the presidential elections, Nicușor Dan, was voted by 138,320 Bessarabians with Romanian citizenship, which represents 88% of the suffrage, while his counter -candidate, George Simion, obtained a number of votes more than seven times lower, ie about 18,870 votes (12%).

MEP Siegfried Mureșan, president of the European Parliament delegation for relations with the Republic of Moldova, thanked the Bessarabians with Romanian citizenship for voting massively for the pro-European candidate.

“Thank you, the Republic of Moldova! After the victory of Nicușor Dan, Romania will continue to be the main supporter of the European integration of the Republic of Moldova. We thank the people of the Republic of Moldova who understood the importance of the presidential elections in Romania and voted in record number the pro-European candidate. Over 157 thousand votes, of which 88% were for the pro-European candidate. With Nicușor Dan President, Romania will continue to be the main supporter of the European Integration of the Republic of Moldova, as it has been in recent years ”, noted Siegfried Mureșan on his Facebook page.

Bucharest insurance

Siegfried Mureșan gave assurances that Bucharest will continue to support Chisinau, including in its European course.

“After these elections, we will soon have a stable, pro-European government in Bucharest, to support Moldova in the accession negotiations and in overcoming the challenges they face. The Russian federation has tried to influence both the presidential elections in the Republic of Moldova last year and those in Romania this year. Failed in both cases. We were united and fought these destabilization attempts of Russia. I anticipate the same denouement in the parliamentary elections that follow in the Republic of Moldova ”, concluded the MEP.
