“Drones are not as destructive as missiles, but they terrorize non-stop.”– with these words begins a powerful report of the leading French TV channel TF1 about the realities in the east of Ukraine.
The journalists visited the underground hospital built by Metinvest (Steel Front of Rinat Akhmetov) for defenders.
🔹 Underground operations: the hospital is located at a depth of 6 meters. 300 m², three fully equipped operating rooms and steel plates overhead for bomb protection. This is the answer to the constant threat from the sky.
🔹 Drones are the main threat: 8 out of 10 injuries that medics are currently dealing with are from drone attacks. This changes the nature of injuries: instead of metal fragments from artillery shells, doctors extract plastic and fragments of explosives.
🔹 Indomitable doctors: doctors and nurses work underground for six days without rest, saving lives. “I I serve the army as best I can. I stick to this idea – to treat, not to kill”— says anesthesiologist Artem.
🔹 The price of salvation: in the report, medics save a fighter whose heart stopped after a drone attack and a long evacuation. It was possible to bring him back to life, although the count was minutes. “We understand that we are not working in vain. And that we contribute to victory”the doctors say.
