Ovidiu Horsia (25 years old), former footballer at FCSB in the period 2017-2023, he is going through one of the most difficult periods of his life. Once considered a promising player, the midfielder retired last summer, aged just 24, due to medical issues that continue to affect his day-to-day life.
In the summer of 2020, Horşia tick off one of the most important appearances of his career. In the context of the batch problems caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, it was used by FCSB in the memorable match with Backa Topola in the Europa League preliminaries.
The red-blues won on penalty kicks after a spectacular 6-6. Then, Horsia entered the field in the 72nd minute, in place of the injured Florinel Coman.
A promising career cut short early: “I was crying myself to sleep!”
The last team in his career was ASA Târgu Mureș, but repeated injuries forced him to give up football prematurely.
Almost a year after his retirement, the former midfielder confesses that he is still facing serious problems and is no longer considering a return to the field.
“To play, of course I don't play anymore, I have no way. Now I don't have any support, I'm not really on TV anymore. No one is looking for me anymore. When I was good, I ate for free at restaurants, and when you're down, no one is looking for you.
I'm still at risk of getting a prosthesis. A light run I can, but two or three laps, no more. My problems started in 2021, when I was playing for Gaz Metan on loan from FCSB.
I injured myself in October, I simply woke up in the morning with a locked knee. I couldn't lay him down, everything was in my sleep, no one hit me. That evening I remember that we had a match against Dinamo.
From then until February I tried to recover naturally, without surgery. Then the financial problems started at Gaz Metan, I had 3-4 months of non-payment and I returned to FCSB.
It is a cartilage erosion. It was more complicated. I had two operations, both went well, but the cartilage doesn't recover, it just degrades over time. You can do operations to relieve the pain, but it didn't work for me.
I'm not doing anything right now. I haven't done anything since July-August. I tried to recover, to play again, but I couldn't take my knee anymore. I tried with injections, with everything, but in vain.
Sometimes it's hard for me to even walk. If I was healthy, I played at least in the second league. Now I'm thinking of attending the Faculty of Sports in Cluj, I thought of taking the path of coaching or being a physical trainer, also in football, that's what I've done all my life.
I had some hard, nasty moments, anxieties, there were evenings when I fell asleep crying. I wasn't feeling well at all”, explained Horșia, for primasport.ro.

The game with Backa Topola remained one of the only two official appearances of Horșia in the FCSB shirt. The second came in September 2020, in a championship match played against FC Argeș.
The midfielder born in Târgu Mureș did not get any more chances and was loaned by FCSB in every competition break. Either in the first league, at Poli Iași, Gaz Metan and Cluj University, or in the second league, at Clinceni, Unirea Constanța, respectively Alexandria.
Even if he failed to establish himself at FCSB, Horsia collected solid figures in the first echelon. Throughout his career, he scored 74 matches and six goals in the Super League, all in the shirts of Gaz Metan, Poli Iași and Cluj University.
