Kindergartens in Russia proposed to switch to a 12-hour working day

The Public Chamber proposed transferring kindergartens to a 12-hour working day.

Kindergartens should be switched to a 12-hour working day for the convenience of parents. This was stated on June 6 by Deputy Secretary of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation Vladislav Grib in a conversation with RIA Novosti on the sidelines of SPIEF-2026.

“Our parents finish work at 6 o’clock. Getting to kindergarten takes on average another 40 minutes, if we talk about Moscow. Therefore, reserve time is needed. I believe that kindergartens can work 12-hour shifts,” he noted.

At the same time, Grib emphasized that before introducing such a schedule, it is necessary to increase the salaries of educators. However, it is worth taking into account the psychology of children, since for some, such a long stay in the garden can be tiring.
