The Embassy of the Russian Federation in Romania sent an official position in which it rejects the information appearing in the public space regarding Russia's involvement in the incident in the Port of Constanța, where a maritime drone exploded, as well as in connection with three other similar devices drifting towards Romanian territorial waters.

In the statement sent, the Russian ambassador, Vladimir Lipaev, claims that the data presented by the Ministry of National Defense would be “intentionally incomplete”. It states that these are unmanned maritime vehicles belonging to Ukraine, used by the “Kiev regime” to attack civilian ships and create risks to the safety of navigation in the Black Sea.

A marine drone discovered on Friday morning in the Port of Constanța exploded around 10:30 a.m., the loud bang being heard from several kilometers away. No one was injured after the drone self-detonated, but the Red Intervention Plan was activated.

Numerous intervention forces were mobilized at the scene, including approximately 80 firefighters from ISU Constanța, eight water and foam extinguishing vehicles, 11 SMURD crews, three vehicles for transporting multiple victims, a CBRN crew, as well as diver crews and mobile intensive care units. Also, approximately 20 gendarmes, 35 policemen and 42 border policemen are acting in support, including with boats to secure the perimeter, announced the Department for Emergency Situations.

To monitor the area, a SMURD helicopter was ordered to take off for aerial reconnaissance, and a Black Hawk helicopter from the Tulcea base was also mobilized to support the operations.

In parallel, structures of the Romanian Intelligence Service and the Ministry of National Defense participate in the coordinated actions to manage the situation and secure the perimeter.

The White Plan was activated at the level of health units in the municipality of Constanța, to ensure the ability to respond in the event of victims.

The authorities sent RO-ALERT messages for the counties of Constanța and Tulcea, by which the population is warned to avoid the coastal area within a radius of about one kilometer and to respect the official indications.

At the same time, preventive evacuations from the risk area were ordered, a measure adopted, according to the authorities, exclusively for the safety of the population. Citizens are urged to remain calm and follow the recommendations sent through official channels.
