Medical services at the Arab Baptist hospital evacuated patients from the building after they received a phone call from the Israeli army warning about the attack. Israel did not comment on the attack.
Photos circulating in social media, which Reuters was unable to verify immediately, showed dozens of resettled families leaving this place. Some of them pulled sick relatives on hospital beds.
In its statement, the Government press office of Hamas condemned the attack as a “hideous crime”, saying that Israel “intentionally destroyed and excluded 34 hospitals from use as part of a systematic plan to dismantle what was left of the healthcare sector in the Gaza Strip.”
In October 2023, hundreds of people were killed in an attack on the Al-Ahli Arab Baptist hospital. Palestinian officials blamed the Israeli air attack for the explosion. Israel said that the explosion was caused by the unsuccessful launch of the rocket by the Palestinian combat group of Islamic jihad, which denied the accusation.
