Bank robbery in Naples. Hostages released after two hours


According to information provided by a police source to AFP, the attack took place on Thursday around 11.30. Three men, at least one of whom “were certainly armed”, broke into a bank branch in Naples. The attackers detained both customers and bank employees inside, holding them captive for nearly two hours.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. all hostages were released. The Prefect of Naples, Michele di Bari, said in a statement that thanks to the quick response of the services, no one was seriously injured. The police did not record any casualties among the people detained in the bank.

The police broke windows to get inside

According to local media reports, Police officers, trying to get inside the bank, broke the windows of the building. A police source said that the perpetrators of the attack managed to escape through a tunnel. It is not known at this time whether the attackers took any money or valuables with them.
