According to the police, the crime was committed at the end of May. It was established that an unknown person called the girl and said that he had to deliver a parcel in her name, to receive which she needed to call the code from the SMS, which she did.
The next day, a false security officer contacted the victim and stated that her personal account on Gosuslugi had been hacked, and a power of attorney had been issued on her behalf for a repeat offender from an unfriendly country. In order to cancel the document and avoid criminal prosecution, the Krasnoyarsk woman was ordered to conduct a search via video broadcast in her father’s apartment, and declare the money found there.
“Under the influence of criminals, the girl came to her father’s apartment in his absence, with the help of a grinder, sawed open the safe and took 20 thousand dollars, 2.5 million rubles, jewelry and gold coins. The Krasnoyarsk woman pawned the jewelry in a pawnshop for 768 thousand rubles, and sold the coins to a numismatist for 1.3 million rubles. As a result, the girl transferred 5 million 705 thousand rubles to the scammers,” the police said.
The girl did not have time to transfer another 300 thousand rubles – she tried to do it in a mobile phone store, but the employees suspected something was wrong and called the police.
A criminal case was opened on the fact of fraud (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). During searches in the network of pawn shops where the victim had deposited jewelry, similar items were seized for investigative actions. In addition, the police identified the bank accounts to which the money was transferred. Banking transactions in the amount of 3.2 million rubles were suspended.
