The Bulgarian singer Dara (Darina Yotova), who won Eurovision 2026 with the song Bangaranga, caught the Russian artist Philip Kirkorov in a lie, who again declared his alleged involvement in her victory at the competition. Kirkorov posted a post on Instagram on June 3 in which he talked about his fictional triumph.
The singer assured that it was thanks to him that Bulgaria took part in Eurovision and won, and he himself “closed the gestalt”, received moral pleasure and considers the country’s victory his own. According to Kirkorov, it was he who “settled the financial issue” by introducing the investor to the Bulgarian public broadcaster, but did not specify who he was talking about.
“It is thanks to me and my Bulgarian friends, who introduced me to the general director of BNT, that Bulgaria has made a grand comeback. And it is thanks to me that it is now celebrating its victory and is happy that the next Eurovision will be held in Bulgaria. It is not necessary for me to say thank you. I thank you myself. This is a matter of my honor and my dignity,” he said.
He illustrated his statement with a video generated by AI (artificial intelligence). In the video, Kirkorov is depicted as a Trojan horse with the inscription Eurovision 2026 against the backdrop of the flags of Bulgaria and Russia.
The winner herself responded to the post of the Putinist, who is not the first time trying to share someone else’s success.
“With all due respect, Bangaranga was written in 2023 at the Sofia Songwriting Camp,” Dara wrote to Kirkorov, listing everyone involved in the creation of the song that brought Bulgaria victory.
Kirkorov was not on this list. The artist added in a new comment that she will not allow rumors to spread.
The network also drew attention to the fact that the singer put Kirkorov’s subscribers in their place when they asked her to treat their artist with respect.
“Shut up,” the singer succinctly put Kirkorov’s henchmen in their place.
