Gen. Sokołowski honored by Pete Hegseth. He received an important distinction

“The General Commander of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Marek Sokołowski, during his stay in the USA, was honored with the American Legion of Merit in the rank of Commander – one of the highest US military decorations awarded to foreigners. The distinction was awarded by Pete Hegseth, Secretary of Defense of the United States,” DGRSZ reported on the X platform.
As noted, the ceremony was also attended by the deputy commander of the US Army V Corps, Maj. Gen. Maciej Jabłoński.

“The Legion of Merit Medal is awarded to key commanders and leaders of allied countries in recognition of special contributions to building global security and international military cooperation. Honoring the Polish Commander General with such a high class order is an undeniable proof of recognition for his many years of service and professionalism, as well as confirmation of his personal contribution to the development of the Polish-American alliance and strengthening the position of NATO,” the entry emphasized.
Last September He was awarded the American Legion of Merit medal, among others. Maj. Gen. Karol Molenda, who was recently nominated to the NATO command in Norfolk, US.
