Donald Trump on talks with Iran. An agreement is possible soon

During a meeting with reporters in the Oval Office, Trump commented on the attack on the Kuwaiti airport, which resulted in the death of at least one person. The US president suggested that Iran's actions were a response to previous US operations, and the entire situation should not be treated as a serious threat. The American leader explained that the United States responded quickly to the incident and, according to him, some might consider that Iran was provoked by previous decisive US actions.
According to information provided by the Kuwaiti authorities, Wednesday's Iranian drone attack targeted employees and passengers of a civilian airport. As a result of this incident, one person was killed and at least 63 were injured. US Central Command (CENTCOM) called the attack a “deliberate, calculated and unjustified attack.” It also reported that in response to earlier attempts by Iran to attack U.S. troops in Kuwait, U.S. forces carried out strikes on the island of Keshm and shot down numerous Iranian ballistic missiles and drones.
Negotiations with Iran and the prospect of an agreement
Trump emphasized that despite the exchange of blows between the sides, the ceasefire in the region remains in force. According to the president, in this part of the world the ceasefire means that military operations are carried out in a more moderate manner. He also added that talks with Iran are going very well, and both sides are close to reaching an agreement, which could be approved as early as next weekend. Trump announced that after signing the preliminary agreement, known as the memorandum of understanding, the Strait of Hormuz would be opened immediately.
The US President noted that Iran currently agrees to the United States destroying Iran's stockpiles of enriched uranium, although he also admitted that Tehran's position on this matter varies.
Talks with Hezbollah and the situation in Lebanon
Trump also expressed his desire to separate Israel's conflict with Hezbollah from the war with Iran, even though Tehran has repeatedly emphasized that the two conflicts are linked. The US president confirmed that his administration has entered into talks with Hezbollah for the first time in history, aimed at stopping the Israeli offensive in Lebanon and ensuring that the pro-Iranian militia will not attack Israel.
