The celebrations, which drew crowds, sparked discussions about public order. Interior Minister Laurent Nunez said police arrested more than 890 people on Saturday and Sunday, an increase of more than 45 percent on last year's festivities, when PSG won the Champions League trophy for the first time in history.
As serious incidents continue to occur during major public events such as sporting celebrations or national festivities, politicians and local authorities in France are struggling to develop effective strategies to ensure public safety.
