Petrolul Ploiești and Farul Constanța will meet on Sunday, January 25, from 2:30 p.m., in a match from round number 23 of the Superliga. Ianis Zicu, the coach of Farului, prefaced the duel with Ploiești.

The 42-year-old technician is aware of the importance of the match with the “Gazarians”, which he considers a special one.

Tension and pressure on players

“It's a tough game and both teams are in a delicate situation. We haven't won for 6 games, Petrol for 4 games, so this match is a special one, because it has a very heavy load. The more stages go by and there are fewer chances to score points, the more the tension and pressure on each player and the club increases. When you play with a team below you in the ranking, you have to do everything not to lose,” said Ianis Zicu, letting it is understood that he would be satisfied with a draw, to keep the distance of 8 points from Ploiești.

“We went through this situation last season as well, we have to accumulate points and maintain the distance from those at the bottom. Being an away match, maybe in the end you settle for a point, but we can't go with this mentality. Mister always prepared the matches for victory”, added the goalkeeper Alexandru Buzbuchi.

Another week without news

Despite the difficult situation in the standings, Farul remains among the few teams that have not strengthened their squad this winter. And Ianis Zicu does not seem too optimistic about any transfer in the next period.

“A week has passed, we haven't brought any player, but the period is still open. If we find a good option, we will definitely bring that player. But I'm only thinking about which players we have at the moment, with whom we won important points on difficult grounds. We drew at Dinamo and at Botoșani, we beat FCSB and CFR Cluj away, we won with FC Botoșani at home. We also got these points and we can do more in the future,” said the coach white-blues.

Regardless of whether we are in the play-offs or not, the important thing is to collect points. If we are not going to be in the play-offs, we have to show personality and character and finish well in the table. When you walk into the choir, down there, there are definitely emotions
