Hungary is reviewing ministries. “Servants of a corrupt system” are leaving

Sources interviewed by Telex informed that at least one hundred people have been dismissed from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in recent days, formally by mutual consent and due to loss of trust. Other information published in the Hungarian media suggests that the number may be closer to two hundred.
The workers interviewed by Telex said that the authorities' decision to withdraw their services came as a surprise to them, especially since many of them had previously supported Magyar's party during the parliamentary elections.
Gyorgy Laszlo Velkey, an MP from the ruling Tisza, announced in a Facebook post that the employment contracts of 45 officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were being terminated. He added that this affected those employees who were directly appointed by the previous head of Hungarian diplomacy, Peter Szijjarto.
According to Velkey, “it damaged Hungary's credibility, undermined the trust of allies and discredited the country within the EU.” “Our only goal is to build a new, credible and reliable Hungarian diplomacy that actually serves the common good, the real interests of Hungary and the Hungarian nation,” he noted.
Hungarian government announcement
In a statement posted on its website, the government said it had started “the restructuring of ministries with the aim of building a public administration that truly serves the common good and the Hungarian nation.”
“Tisha's government recognizes that a significant part of the ministry's employees have performed their work honestly and professionally in recent years and cannot be held responsible for the abuses, mistakes and inhumane decisions of Orban's government. At the same time, it should be stated that there were those who were not just contractors, but active servants of a corrupt system that for years served to enrich a narrow circle of power, and not the interests of the nation,” the statement stated.
