HIV incidence in Russia has halved since 2016

The incidence of HIV infection in Russia has halved since 2016. This was announced by Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation Andrei Plutnitsky.

According to him, there are now just over 931 thousand people living with HIV infection in Russia.

“Since 2016, the service has reduced the incidence of HIV infections in the country by half and brought it to a historical minimum. Today there are just over 931 thousand people living with HIV in the country. It’s less than a million,” he said.

The Deputy Minister noted that the positive dynamics continue with the participation of all Russian regions. In 2025, 43 thousand new cases of HIV infection were registered in the country. This is 11% less than in 2024.
