Romania risks losing EU funds of EUR 819 million, by disengagement from the Just Transition Program, in 2026. MIPE solution: Union of two programs and investments in water pipes and renovation of the population's homes

Romania risks losing European funds of 819 million euros through automatic decommitment, at the level of 2026, as a result of the failure to spend the money from the EU, within the Just Transition Program (PTJ), warns the Ministry of Investments and European Projects, which is analyzing the solution to unite PTJ with another program, along with the introduction of investments in water pipes and housing renovation for the needy population.
The Just Transition Program (PTJ) is the instrument through which Romania accesses the money allocated by the European Union as part of the famous Green Deal – the European Green Pact through which the EU hopes (however) to reduce pollution. Thus, through our PTJ, investments are financed that reduce the negative economic and social impact in the 6 Romanian counties where polluting industrial activities are closed: Gorj, Dolj, Prahova, Galați, Mureș, Hunedoara (including Valea Jiului).
