Conversation Nicușor Dan – the Minister of Defense after General Vlad, the head of the Army, was put under criminal investigation. “He is the supreme commander”

The interim Minister of Defense, Radu Miruţă, stated, on Tuesday, on Antena 3, that he informed President Nicusor Dan about the case of the Chief of the Defense Staff, Vlad Gheorghiţă, investigated by the DNA in a case in which he is accused of complicity in the usurpation of office.
“It is an unpleasant situation for the Romanian Army. We will have an analysis together with Mr. President, whom I informed about this situation, most likely in the next period. When I learned about this situation, I informed Mr. President, he is obviously the supreme commander of the Romanian Army”, said Miruţă, quoted by Agerpres.
He showed that an analysis of the current situation is needed.
“We don't interfere with what the judiciary is doing, but we have to do an analysis of how things look now and this analysis must be done, in my perspective, coordinated by the president of Romania, who will probably analyze this situation and if he asks for additional information from us, we will provide everything we have at our disposal,” Radu Miruţă said.
The accusations against General Vlad
The Chief of the Defense Staff, General Gheorghiţă Vlad, was put under criminal investigation by the prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) in a case in which he is accused of complicity in the usurpation of the position, because he allegedly intervened for the addition of places to the budget at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport, so that 20 candidates no longer paid fees, three of them going to enter the MApN after graduation.
In a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon, the Chief of Defense Staff denied the allegations in the file.
“I categorically reject the accusations that have been brought to me and I state unequivocally that I have not committed any act of corruption and I have not had any involvement, direct or indirect, in activities that could constitute complicity in such acts”, states Gheorghiță Vlad in the message.
“I will trust that the truth will result from the objective analysis of the facts and evidence, but I cannot help but notice the at least curious nature of the moment chosen for the formulation of this accusation, given that the file has been instrumented for almost a year, and the decision to indict comes just now, in a particularly sensitive and complex context at the national level,” says the head of the Army.
