“Starting tomorrow, the colleagues from the Bucharest Lakes, Parks and Recreation Administration are removing the water. The lowering process will last until June 8 when they enter the tank with the machines”, says the message published on Facebook by Bucharest City Hall.
During the intervention, the authorities announce the relocation of the fauna in the area. The ducks will be moved to Lake Floreasca, and the fish will be transferred to other lakes as the water is drained.
The City Hall of the Capital specifies that the works are aimed at making the banks safe, warning that some are already damaged.
“The works involve emptying the lake, cleaning the lake basin, which is dirty and clogged, and the execution of the works to support and strengthen the banks. We are doing works that will last 100 years”reports Ciprian Ciucu.
Already in May, the mayor Ciprian Ciucu announced that steps are to be taken to restore Herăstrău park.
The process also provides for the launch of an integrated master plan for the modernization and protection of the entire landscape of the park.
