A PSD mayor announced his resignation from office and accused that the party “is going to the head”. The message sent to Sorin Grindeanu
The mayor of Coloneşti commune, Olt county, Nicolae Stan (PSD), announced his resignation through an open letter, in which the mayor criticizes the current leadership of the party, declaring himself disappointed by “the big and strong from the county and from the center”.

He explained that the resignation will be effective on July 19, on the occasion of the 25th edition of Coloneşti Commune Day.
“Totally dissatisfied with the current leadership of the central PSD, but also of the PSD Olt, I, Nicolae Stan, announce to my fellow citizens, but also to the current leaders of the party, as a whole, that I will resign from the position of mayor, on the occasion of the 25th edition of Coloneşti Commune Day, established on July 19, AC Personally, I was president of the Coloneşti PSD for a relatively short time, after Revolution, and until December 14, 2023. I have worked for this party and for the people of this commune. But, today, I say frankly: the party I believed in has disappointed me! I repeat, for the record: on July 19, on the Commune Day, I will resign from the position of mayor and, in relation to the evolution of the central PSD, I will also decide to resign as PSD member”stated Nicolae Stan, in an open letter published by the local press.
He expressed his dissatisfaction with the PSD leadership at the central and county level.
“I'm saying this because, under the leadership of Grindeanu, the party is going headlong. Only a change of vision by the President of Romania, Nicusor Dan, as well as another one by Grindeanu at the head of the PSD, can still save Romania. Otherwise, early elections, which neither the PSD nor, probably, the AUR, with all the high percentages of this so-called nationalist formation, really want.”added the mayor.

He added that “the big and strong from the county and from the center” they have “challenged the rural communities of Olt county, including the Coloneşti commune, a commune that needed to be supported for the important projects we carried out here”.
At the same time, Nicolae Stan claimed that he was not supported by his own party, despite the promises made by the former leader of the formation Marcel Ciolacu, but he also criticized ministers from PNL and UDMR.
“But because my own party, which claims to be a left-wing party, did not support me, when I needed help, for the payment of the builders and the completion of the investments, despite the promises made by Marcel Ciolacu, who said that he is not Moldovan, but Romanian (sic.!), and those around him, I have decided to resign from both the position of mayor and I will think carefully about whether I will continue to be a simple PSD member. Besides, Marcel Ciolacu hurt me the “sexual organ” of the budget deficit (see the statement of another whistleblower – the PNL minister, Boloş), exactly where he also hurt the Minister of Culture Demeter András István, saying that he is Hungarian”he continued.
He admitted, however, that the decision to resign is also motivated by his and his wife's health problems.
“I am leaving with a bitter taste. I am leaving the position of mayor, with the bitterness of a man who worked his life for his community and who, when he needed support, was left alone. Lately, I had two big projects for this community. Two projects of the soul. The first was the introduction of gas. I was among the first municipalities in Olt County and Oltenia to start this work. I went to Bucharest hundreds of times for it. At one point, we also needed 80 billion lei to complete the network in the villages of Chelbesti and Cârstani. I am saying this directly about Paul Stănescu, who should have supported the Olt county and its communities. Nothing was done for the people of interest, such as the pseudo-minister of agriculture.said the mayor.

PSD leadership, accused of ignoring local issues
According to him, Marcel Ciolacu and Paul Stănescu also came to Colonesti.
“I was promised that the problem would be solved. Nothing was solved. And I say it directly: Marcel Ciolacu was the first candidate at the head of the PSD, who failed to enter the presidential election round. And instead of fighting for his own party, he tried to push the votes towards George Simion and AUR. This is no longer politics for the people. This is a joke”Stan pointed out.
He claimed that the second project was the Sports Complex in Colonesti, which was approved by the Ministry of Development and the CNI, the land had been handed over and all that was needed was the tender for execution.
“And yet, the project was blocked. And here I say clearly: also because of the county leadership and, in particular, because of Paul Stănescu. I went countless times to ask for support. Instead, the interest was for other projects and other political pride. Today I tell you openly: PSD has become a party without reaction, without courage and without connection with the people. When Ilie Bolojan increased VAT and taxes, PSD was silent. speak on television, without giving any solution. When the town halls were threatened with cuts and restructuring, Grindeanu came out on the TV stations with heavy money to sweeten our sorrow with his “social-democratic” grin.Nicolae Stan added.
He accused PSD that “he was silent, like a fish in water” when “the people of the villages were burdened”.
“When it came to people with disabilities, PSD accepted, then growled, sporadically, in the corners. They only reacted when it came to their privileges and sinecures. I don't consider Ilie Bolojan guilty only. The entire former governing coalition is guilty, especially the PSD, which claimed to be the largest party in the “European” governing coalition. “European”, down to the “frog's knee”. Bolojan is also guilty of allying himself with the USR, a totally uncertain formation from an ideological point of view, with securist accents. And this was possible, because the PSD had a parliamentary majority, ministers and power and did nothing for the common people, but only for the potentates around the Nordis type”Stan argued.

The mayor sent a message to the PSD leader, Sorin Grindeanu, warning that, if he continues as before, “party dust will be chosen”.

“I tell Sorin Grindeanu directly: if the PSD continues in this way, the dust of the party will be chosen. A big party cannot survive only on functions and compromises. A big party must have courage, initiative and respect for the people. PSD has over 2,000 mayors and 26 presidents of county councils, out of 41. If they had the courage to return to the people and give up the games of behind the scenes, he could have won the trust of the Romanians again. But he preferred to sit and argue with PNL and USR every day. They don't even have the courage to govern, after they brought down the Bolojan Government.”he transmitted.
He added: “I am a man of the left and I will remain a man of the left, until the last day of my life. I am on the side of the simple people, of those who work and bear the burden of this country. I have 58 years of work in the administration and in public life. I was also a deputy. But the greatest honor for me was to be the mayor of this commune. I thank the people of Colonesti for the trust, support and respect they have shown me all these years. I will stay by their side as long as I can live, as a man of the place and as their neighbor”.
According to him, in the most recent elections, PSD obtained in Colonesti over 96% of the votes for the Local Council, 97% for the president of the County Council and 96% for the County Council.
“I fired for the party until the last moment. I also fired for Marcel Ciolacu. But people see the truth and can't be lied to forever. I'm leaving with a heavy heart. Not because I'm losing a position. The positions are temporary. I'm leaving sad, because I see the direction Romania is going and because the party I've believed in all my life has distanced itself from the people. History will judge everyone. I'm leaving with a peaceful conscience that I did everything I could for Colonesti commune and for her people”Stan concluded.
