Road traffic on DN 2, between Bucharest and Urziceni, was completely blocked on Monday, December 8, in the Voluntari area, after, on Sunday, December 7, a tanker truck loaded with ether, an extremely flammable substance, overturned outside the roadway.
According to the INFOTRAFFIC Center of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, on Monday, December 8, “road traffic was stopped in both directions” to allow specialized crews to intervene in conditions of maximum security to put the tanker back on its wheels. The authorities have established a 500-meter safety perimeter around the area where they are acting.
Alternative routes
During the restrictions period, drivers are redirected to detour routes, depending on the direction of travel:
* Towards Urziceni: DC 29 Piteasca – Brănești – Highway A2 – DN3
* Towards Bucharest: Sinești – DJ 402 – Măineasca – Petrăchioaia – DN2
Police advise drivers to avoid the area, follow the directions of agents and allow for additional travel times.
