Iran insists that management of the strait has nothing to do with the United States and wants to control it together with Oman, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghai said on May 25, The Guardian writes.
When asked whether Trump would agree to this, he replied that the Strait of Hormuz should remain open to everyone, and the United States would monitor the situation in the region.
“These are international waters. No one will be [Ормузским проливом] manage. We will monitor it, but no one will control it. This is part of our negotiations [с Ираном]Trump said.
In addition, the head of the White House warned Oman against interfering in the affairs of the strait.
“Oman will act like everyone else or we'll have to blow them up,” Trump said.
