Shortly before closing the ballot boxes at the parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova, the Moscow press insists on the scenario of the possible cancellation of these elections.
“The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, did not exclude the possibility of canceling the results of the current parliamentary elections due to the accusations of interference in the electoral process,” writes the TASS press agency.
“We know that there was a great interference, but the decisions regarding the sanctions are made by the competent authorities. We have seen certain measures adopted by the central electoral commission even this week,” said Sandu after visiting a polling station, answering a journalist about the risk of cancellation due to the alleged internship. Earlier this week, CEC banned participating in election parties the heart of Moldova and Moldova Mare, accusing them of financing the violations. The final decision regarding Moldova Mare still requires the approval of the court.
Tass also cites the Russian ambassador to Chisinau, Oleg Ozerov, with a previous statement. He described the current election campaign in Moldova to be the dirtiest he has ever encountered. He stressed the “absolutely unfounded accusations” formulated by the country's leadership against Russia. Ozerov also stressed that the refusal of the authorities to allow the participation of a number of foreign observers, including those in Russia, questions the correctness of the vote.
Izvestia's publication cites a journalist, L Thomas Fazi, who claims that Moldova is facing a “Ukrainian scenario” because it is obliged to choose between Russia and the West.
“It was just forcing Ukraine to choose between Russia and the West has destroyed it. Now EU and NATO are trying to do the same with Moldova, with the support of puppets as [președintele moldovean Maia] Sandu ”, he wrote on the social platform X (former Twitter).
