Trump threatens 1 in 11 people worldwide – CNN

During his tenure, Donald Trump threatened or attacked at least 15 of the 200 countries in the world. They account for every 11th inhabitant of the planet, CNN estimated on May 27.

Oman became a new item on this list: on May 27, Trump said that he could strike the country if it, together with Iran, tries to control the Strait of Hormuz. The publication notes that this threat did not sound like a separate official statement, but rather as a phrase said in passing and without preliminary consideration, which, according to journalists, has already become typical for the American president.

According to CNN's count, during his two terms as president, he threatened, did not rule out the possibility of attack, or had already launched attacks on at least 15 states on four continents: Africa, Asia, North and South America.

Almost all such cases occurred during the first 16 months of his second term. During that time, it struck Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Somalia, Syria, Venezuela and Yemen, in addition to possible attacks on drug trafficking ships in the Caribbean and the Pacific that killed nearly 200 people. In addition to Oman, Trump threatened Canada, Colombia, Cuba, Greenland, which is part of Denmark, Mexico and Panama, and during his first term, North Korea.

The media associate this behavior of the US president with the so-called madman theory in foreign policy: Trump is trying to appear unpredictable in order to force other countries to “obey his demands.” At the same time, it demonstrates his militant approach to international politics.
