The child who died after falling from the terrace of a block of flats in Oradea was “an exemplary student”. How the father found out what happened to the boy

The boy who died on the morning of Monday, January 26, after falling from the terrace of a block of flats in the Grand Hill district of Oradea, was a student in the 7th grade at the Onisifor Ghibu National College, he was only 13 years old and was studying well, according to eBihoreanul. Investigators have no indications that it was a crime, but the exact circumstances of the tragedy are to be established.

The teenager did not live in the block where the tragedy happened. Because no documents were found on him, the police went to the school where he studied, identified by his uniform, to check the absent students.

At the same time, the boy's father arrived at the educational facility after receiving an automated message from the electronic catalog, in which he was informed that his son had been missing since the first lesson.

Iulius Timar, the director of the college, explained that the message was sent at 08:00, immediately after the absences were entered into the system. “The parent received the notification and came to the school to see what was happening“, he specified.

A student appreciated by the teachers

Before the child's identity was officially confirmed, the principal said the suspected student was “very good at teaching”, having an average of 9.65 at the end of the 6th grade and that there were no signs of behavioral problems or emotional difficulties, and the boy had not been in the records of the school counselor.

“He was an exemplary student, I had no complaints about him”Timar said.

A neighbor of the family described him, in turn, as a respectful child, passionate about bicycle rides.

Message to parents

After confirming the tragedy, the school management sent a message to parent groups, encouraging families to talk to their children and provide them with emotional support:

“It is with deep regret that we inform you that one of our school's students has passed away. According to available information, it is a suicidal gesture. The entire school community is deeply affected by this loss. In these difficult times, our priority is the emotional safety of students.

We encourage you to talk to your child at home, ask how they are feeling and give them space to express their emotions. Reactions such as sadness, confusion, anger or withdrawal may be normal in such situations. Please be aware of possible changes in behavior (isolation, heightened anxiety, difficulty sleeping, talk of death or lack of meaning in life).

It's important to know that talking openly about your emotions and asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but an essential step towards healing. If you notice that your child is overwhelmed or have concerns, we encourage you to contact the school counselor or a mental health professional.”

The investigation continues

The case is being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office attached to the Bihor Court. The prosecutors and the police started the hearings and requested the images from the surveillance cameras in the area to accurately reconstruct the moment when the incident occurred.

The medical crews that arrived on the scene were unable to save the teenager's life.

We remind you that, also on Monday, a 39-year-old doctor was found breathless in her home in District 1 of the Capital, and investigators are trying to determine whether it was a suicide or other circumstances.
