Donald Trump's people are pressing. They want his image on the banknote


As the daily notes, this would be the first time a living person has been featured on an American banknote in over 150 years. The newspaper's sources say that two Treasury Department officials – U.S. Treasurer Brandon Beach and his adviser Mike Brown – have been pressuring employees of the agency's Bureau of Engraving and Printing to prepare a prototype of the banknote since last year.

The pressure from Beach and Brown has raised concerns among workers because current regulations clearly state that only deceased persons can appear on banknotes.

As part of the pressure, Beach distributed bill designs to office workers in August and September. In one of them, President Trump's likeness appears in the center of a $250 banknote, between the signatures of the head of state and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

British artist Ian Alexander, who designed the banknote, was to talk to Trump on this matter, according to The Washington Post.
