“I was terrified”
“I do not remember ever meeting Mr. Epstein, I have never flown on his plane, nor have I visited his island, homes or offices,” Clinton said in her opening statement, published on social media.
So far, the Clintons have not been charged in court with any crime related to Epstein. They emphasized that they did not have information relevant to the investigation.
As the former president's spokesman previously explained, Clinton met Epstein several times and traveled on his plane four times. However, at that time he had no knowledge of the financier's criminal activities. His representatives say he broke off relations with Epstein in 2006. The leaked documents in Epstein's case have not yet revealed evidence of crimes, although there are photos of the former president in the company of Epstein and women.
President Trump, who for many years was friends with the billionaire accused of abusing minors, called for an investigation into Bill Clinton for his links with Epstein. Epstein committed suicide in custody in 2019.
