From August 12 to 16, the International Forum of Indigenous Peoples will be held in Krasnoyarsk. This was reported by the Agency for the Development of Northern Territories and Support of Indigenous Minorities of the Region.
The regional capital will host representatives of Russian regions and foreign countries, experts in the field of indigenous rights, youth associations and public organizations. It is expected that the forum will include representatives from more than 20 regions of Russia, as well as delegations from countries in Africa, Asia, North and Latin America.
The program includes business sessions, cultural events and northern all-around competitions. The main topics will be support for the traditional way of life, preservation of the culture and languages of indigenous peoples, as well as the exchange of regional practices.
Also within the framework of the forum, the V Interregional Youth Forum of Indigenous Minorities “Siberian Argish” will be held. Its participants will present their projects and initiatives. The cultural program will include the international exhibition-fair “Treasures of the North”, concerts, displays of national costumes, presentations of crafts, traditional cuisine and musical folklore. In addition, the possibility of holding the Nordic all-around world championship and championship in Krasnoyarsk is being discussed.
“For the Krasnoyarsk Territory, holding such a forum is an opportunity to fully present the cultural diversity and identity of the peoples of the northern territories of Russia. This is recognition of the role of the region as one of the key platforms for interethnic dialogue and a high honor, especially in the Year of the Unity of the Peoples of the Russian Federation,” said Anton Narchuganov, head of the agency for the development of the northern territories of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.
The main events of the forum will take place at the Rossiya National Center, sports facilities and open urban spaces.
