Kelemen Hunor, about the newest version of the premier circulated: “It's kind of interesting”

The president of the UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, qualified as “an interesting solution to the equation” the possibility of being designated Eugen Tomac as a candidate for the position of prime minister, given that he is the leader of the PMP, a non-parliamentary party.
“For me, the first option is to restore the coalition, including with Mr. Tomac as prime minister, I don't have a problem, but let it be a majority and very clear support,” said Kelemen, on Tuesday evening, at Euronews.
According to HotNews sources, the main names circulating for the position of prime minister are Eugen Tomac, currently MEP and honorary adviser to President Nicușor Dan, and Radu Burnete, in turn presidential adviser. Tomac, PMP leader and a close associate of Traian Băsescu, is the favorite, the sources claim.
“It's kind of interesting”
Commenting on the Tomac – prime minister scenario, Kelemen Hunor described the PMP leader in appreciative terms, but added that appointing a non-parliamentary party president for such a position “is an interesting solution to the equation”.
“There is nothing personal here, I know him, he is an extremely honorable man, correct, we have known each other since Parliament, that he was a parliamentarian for a long time, in the Chamber of Deputies, and he is a man who listens to everyone and a man who is not conflicted, so, from this point of view, it would be OK”, declared the UDMR leader.
“After that we have to see who Mr. Tomac represents – and here we are talking about a party that is not in the Romanian Parliament. Entrusting the formation of a government to a president of a party that is not in the Parliament, from a political point of view, is a bit interesting, so to speak, an interesting solution to the equation”, he continued.
Kelemen Hunor said that in the discussion held by the president Nicușor Dan and the UDMR representatives, last week, during the formal consultations in Cotroceni, “no name was pronounced” for a possible prime minister.
“We don't know who Mr. Tomac wants to form a government with, if he will be nominated. Does he want a political government? If so, then who should that government be made up of? Does he want a technocratic government? It's another option. Then we have to see what government program he comes with, who will assume the support of a technocratic government with a political prime minister. At least I don't know these details, because I didn't have the opportunity to discuss either with the president of Romania or with Mr. Tomac”, he explained Kelemen.
The UDMR leader added that, for him, “the first option is to restore the coalition, including with Mr. Tomac as prime minister”, but “there must be a majority and very clear support”.
“There is no such thing as independent, this is a beautiful find”
The UDMR leader said that “when you vote for a government, it means that the parties assume a responsibility, a liability for that government”.
He also mentioned that Eugen Tomac “is not independent”.
“Independent of who? So there is no independent, that's a nice puzzle. OK, independent of who? He's the president of a party. Let him be independent of me, maybe, or of Bolojan, or of Grindeanu, possibly of Fritz – I have my doubts there, because he entered the USR lists in the European Parliament. However, he's a politician,” Kelemen Hunor said.
