In Zheleznogorsk, two local residents were found guilty of swindling the apartment of a man suffering from alcohol addiction. The prosecutor's office of the Krasnoyarsk region reported this.
According to the department, in August 2023, the defendants decided to take possession of the victim’s two-room apartment. The man was offered to sell his home, buy him a one-room apartment, register it in his name and pay an additional 500 thousand rubles. In fact, as the court found, the promises turned out to be part of a fraudulent scheme. To prevent the man from delving into what was happening, he was regularly treated to alcohol. In this state, he participated in transactions, and the accused took him to organizations, told him what documents to sign, and controlled the entire process.
Later, the victim was informed that a one-room apartment had already been purchased and he could move. However, the housing was registered not in his name, but in the name of one of the defendants. Only after the intervention of law enforcement officers was the apartment transferred to the man. At the same time, the new housing turned out to be in a building that was recognized as unsafe and subject to demolition.
The court found the men guilty of fraud resulting in deprivation of the right to housing. They were sentenced to imprisonment for terms ranging from 4 to 12 years. They will serve their sentences in general and strict regime colonies.
