Unemployment benefit after the age of 50 2026. How much is it and how long is it available?

Changes in the regulations on unemployment benefits have a direct impact on the financial situation of people losing their jobs. This is especially important for people over 50 years of age who have a difficult situation on the labor market.
Higher benefits and a longer payment period may provide significant support during the difficult period of looking for a new job. The new regulations enter into force in June 2026, so it is worth knowing the details.

The announcement of the Minister of Family, Labor and Social Policy of March 2, 2026 establishes that new, higher unemployment benefit rates will apply from June 1, 2026. As Forsal.pl reminds, the changes concern both the basic benefit as well as increased amounts for people who are not only over 50 years of age, but also have appropriate length of service.

The regulations state that people over 50 years of age who demonstrate at least 20 years of work experience may collect unemployment benefits for up to 365 days. For the first 90 days, they will receive PLN 2,140.68 gross, and for the following months – PLN 1,681.08 gross.
If the length of service is less than 20 years, the benefit is due for 180 days: first PLN 1,783.90 gross for 90 days, then PLN 1,400.90 gross for the next 90 days.

As Forsal.pl reminds, To receive benefits, age and work experience are not enough. You must have at least 365 days of employment in the last 18 months, pay contributions to the Labor Fund and be registered as unemployed at the district labor office.

An application for benefits can be submitted at the employment office competent for the place of residence or online at praca.gov.pl. The office checks the length of service and compliance with all conditions.
The benefit is not available to people dismissed for disciplinary reasons, those who terminated the contract themselves just before registration, those who reject job offers, those who fail to show up for office visits or those who conceal their income.
