Manchester City footballer Erling Haaland bought the most expensive book in the history of Norway. Together with his father, Alf-Inge, he paid approximately 118,000 euros for a copy of the work “The Adventures of Kings”. Immediately after the purchase, he donated the 1594 book to the town hall of the Norwegian municipality of Time, where the town of Bryne, where Haaland grew up, is also located.
The Manchester City striker purchased the book at an auction in December and had only one condition on the donation: that it be open for people to read from.

“I want this book to be on permanent display and for people to be able to read about the heroes that came from this area. I was lucky enough to live my dream through football. But I know that not everyone can have a similar life and books can often show a person the right path,” said Erling Haaland, according to those from sport.aktuality.sk.

The book contains the sagas of the Nordic peoples, originating from the notes of the Icelander Snorri Sturluson from the 12th-14th centuries. These stories were first set down in 1594 by Mattis Storsson, and the only copy of the work that has survived will now be available in one of the libraries in the town of Bryne.
Erlintg Haaland earns around 31.5 million euros annually from Manchester City, excluding sponsorship deals, according to English media reports. He is on the 18th place in the list of the highest paid athletes.
Erling Haaland is the best scorer in this Premier League season. The Norwegian scored 22 goals and provided 7 assists in the 29 games played. It is quoted by specialized websites at 200 million euros. He won the European Golden Shoe in 2023.
