There is currently intense activity on the seasonal fruit market. Strawberries are a specific product because due to their low durability, they must be sold very quickly. Strawberry season. The expert announces an increase in supply
As Maciej Kmera from the fruit and vegetable exchange in Bronisze near Warsaw told “Fakt”, strawberries are “falling flat” and each delivery disappears immediately. In the morning, farmers sell the fruit picked the previous day, and in the afternoon – freshly picked fruit. The expert announces that with higher temperatures, the supply of strawberries may increase dramatically. Now deliveries do not fully meet the needs of sellers and customers because they are delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions.
— Strawberries are very responsive to weather conditions. A few warmer days are enough for the market to change, says Maciej Kmera in an interview with “Fakt”.

Both domestic and imported strawberries sell quickly. Some of the foreign varieties have been on the market since autumn, e.g. Greek ones. Recently, strawberries from Serbia have started to appear, which are visually similar to Polish ones.
The rapid pace concerns not only the disappearance of strawberries from the stock exchange, but also changes in their price list. At the beginning of May, the fruits were valued at over PLN 30 per 1 kg, but as they arrive, prices are falling. Currently, prices range from approximately PLN 20 to PLN 25/kg, depending on the variety, quality of the product and current demand. Strawberries from Greece or Serbia are currently much cheaper.
