The flow of foreigners to Moscow increased by 40%. In the first three months of 2024 alone, half a million foreign travelers arrived in the capital.
The majority are from countries in the Asia-Pacific region (56% of foreign tourist flows). The Middle East is making up for lost time during the pandemic. The number of tourists from there is approaching the figures for 2019. Foreigners from oil and gas-rich regions take their hard-earned money to five-star hotels and luxury restaurants more often than others.
Here are the top 3 countries from which most people came to Moscow last year: China, Türkiye and India. For the entire 2023, 2.3 million foreign tourists visited the capital – 30% more than the year before. So we are waiting for a new record.
People come to Moscow mainly for the rich cultural program – to see how almost 900 years of the city’s history are integrated into modern reality and infrastructure. And, of course, hang out at different events.
