Five million cars will disappear. Production leaves Western Europe

The car industry began to plan its exit from the countries of Western Europe, due to very high costs and production overcapacity. An analysis of the evolution of production units estimates the disappearance of about 5 million vehicles from Western factories.
Production of light vehicles (cars and LCVs) in Western Europe will decrease from 14.2 million units to 9.5 million units by 2030 compared to the base year 2015.
The difference of approximately 5 million vehicles will be borne by the car manufacturers in proportion to their market share, with the Volkswagen group being the main company to settle this decline, given its market share of around 25%.
This year, the production of light vehicles in Western Europe will reach about 9.7 million vehicles, a very large decrease that almost completely cancels the increases recorded after the crisis that accompanied the Covid pandemic.
