Netflix announces that one of its flagship series will end with a final season filmed in Greece

Emily's adventures, which began in Paris, will end with a final season in Greece, with Netflix announcing that one of its flagship series is coming to an end, reports Variety.

Netflix announced Thursday that the series will end with its sixth season, which is currently filming in Greece. The fact that it was renewed for a sixth season had been announced back in January.

“Making 'Emily in Paris' with this amazing cast and crew has been the adventure of my life,” series creator Darren Star said in a statement.

“As we embark on our final season, I am extremely grateful to Netflix, Paramount, and most of all, to the fans who have been on this incredible journey with us. We can't wait to share this final chapter with you. Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your lives, inspiring your travel dreams and love of Paris. We will always have 'Emily in Paris!'” he added.

Lily Collins stars as the protagonist Emily, a Chicago marketing executive who unexpectedly lands her dream job in Paris and embarks on a life-changing journey to Europe. According to the official description, “Her new life is filled with dizzying adventures and surprising challenges as she tries to balance work, friendships and romance.”

The series “Emily in Paris” was a major success for Netflix

In later seasons, the production toured Italy, with the protagonist reaching Rome and Venice. Its popularity on Netflix was so great that French President Emmanuel Macron personally intervened to try to prevent the series from being permanently relocated outside of France.

His wife, First Lady Brigitte Macron, was invited to make a cameo appearance in the series' fourth season.

Since its release in 2020, the first five seasons have spent 32 weeks in the Netflix Global Top 10, reached No. 1 in 90 countries and accumulated over 250 million views between the first half of 2023 and the second half of 2025.

Season 5 was titled on some of Netflix's promotional materials “Emily in Rome” as the story took place predominantly in the Italian capital. It was launched by Netflix last December.

Our entire cast and crew are putting their hearts into making a fantastic farewell season, which we're shooting now. I can't wait for all the magic to come and to celebrate our final season with you in the most chic way yet,” she added.

Along with Collins, the cast of the series also includes Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu, Ashley Park, Lucas Bravo, Samuel Arnold, Bruno Gouery, William Abadie, Lucien Laviscount, Eugenio Franceschini, Thalia Besson, Paul Forman, Arnaud Binard, Minnie Driver, Bryan Greenberg and Michèle Laroque.

Variety notes that this is the second series that Netflix has announced this week that it will end. The streaming platform previously revealed that the upcoming season 5 of “The Lincoln Lawyer” will also be its last.
