Trump's “borders'” borders “, accused of receiving a bribe of $ 50,000 in a secret investigation of the Department of Justice

President Donald Trump, Tom Homan's “borders'” borders “, accepted a $ 50,000 bag in a cash from an undercover FBI agent, in a corruption investigation of the US Department of Justice, which was in the meantime, two familiar sources with the situation said on Sunday, according to Reuters.

According to the accusations, Homan would have promised to grant government contracts related to immigration, with his entry into the Trump administration, in exchange for money, the sources said, who spoke under the protection of anonymity, invoking the non -public character of the investigation.

The director of the FBI, Kash Patel, ordered the closure of the investigation during the summer, said one of the sources. Tom Homan could not be contacted for comments.

“This issue appeared during the previous administration and was subjected to a complete evaluation by the FBI agents and the prosecutors of the Department of Justice. They did not find any credible proof of committing an offense,” Patel and Deputy Prosecutor General said in a statement published on Sunday.

“The resources of the department must remain focused on the real threats against the American people, not on some investigations without foundation. Accordingly, the investigation has been closed,” the statement said.

The investigation of Homan began in August 2024, towards the end of the administration of President Joe Biden, and started from another investigation on national security issues, one of the sources for Reuters said.

In that separate investigation, the main target repeatedly mentioned Homan, saying that he would receive bribe in exchange for future government contracts, the two sources said.

An undercover operation was organized, and Homan was recorded while accepting a $ 50,000 bribe, in a bag, in a restaurant in the Cav chain, according to the same sources.

The reaction of the white house

Homan coordinates the campaign of the Trump administration of mass deportations of people illegally in the United States. The White House said that it was not involved in awarding any contract.

“He is a career officer and a dedicated civil servant, who does an exceptional job on behalf of President Trump and the country,” said Abigail Jackson, the deputy press secretary of the White House, in a statement.

An investigation of a great jury on Homan's activity, carried out in the western district of Texas, was still at an early stage when Trump returned to the White House, in January, sources said.

Emil Bove, who was an interim deputy of the Attorney General and is now a federal judge, was informed about the case in February, said one of the sources. In that discussion, he would have expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation and said that it is an example of an “parallel state” operation, referring to the idea that non-unleashed officials secretly control the Government.

The statement sent by Kash Patel and Todd Blanche qualified the investigation as “an obviously political investigation” and “Another example about how the Biden's Department of Justice used to use President Trump Allies.”

Who is Tom Homan

Homan was officially at the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency during the Barack Obama and interim director of Trump's first term.

During the four years that Trump was out of power, Homan led a consulting firm that helps companies to obtain immigration -related government contracts.

In the registered undercover operation, Homan would have said that he would keep the money from bribe in a special fund until the completion of his mandate in the Trump administration, according to one of the sources.

Shortly after the meeting in which he criticized the investigation on Homan, Bove ordered separately to renounce the corruption against the mayor of New York, Eric Adams, which caused several career prosecutors to resign. At the same time, the Department of Justice has largely abolished the unit responsible for the corruption files, which had also participated in the Homan investigation.
