US troop cuts in Europe. Pentagon decision

“The Department of War reduced the total number of Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) assigned to Europe from four to three. This restored the number of BCTs in Europe to 2021 levels. This decision was the result of a comprehensive, multi-layered process focused on the presence of U.S. military forces in Europe. This results in a temporary delay in the deployment of US military forces in Poland, which is a model US ally. – wrote Sean Parnell in a statement on Platform X.

US troops in Europe. There will be “further analysis”
He added that the basis for the final distribution of these and other American forces in Europe will be “further analysis of the strategic and operational needs of the United States, as well as the capabilities of our allies to commit forces to defend Europe.” He noted that the Pentagon's goal is to implement President Donald Trump's “America First” program. Under it, Washington will encourage NATO allies to take primary responsibility for the conventional defense of Europe.
Parnell also mentioned a conversation with Polish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and announced continued contact with Poland, “including to ensure that the United States maintains a strong military presence in Poland.”
“Poland has shown both the ability and determination to defend itself. Other NATO allies should follow suit,” noted the Pentagon spokesman.
Sean Parnell's statement is the clearest explanation so far of the situation regarding the suspension of the deployment of an armored brigade to Poland as part of the planned rotation. It comes after five days of information chaos on the part of the US administration and rumors that the Pentagon has suddenly suspended the rotation of an armored brigade from Texas to Poland.
In his own statement after a conversation with Pentagon chief Pete Hegseth, Kosiniak-Kamysz said on Tuesday that “no decision to reduce the capabilities of American troops in Poland has been made.” Hegseth also allegedly confirmed that “Poland can count on the United States.”
US Vice President JD Vance stated on Tuesday that suspending the rotation of the armored brigade to Poland is “merely a delay in the rotation.” He noted that no decision had been made about the final destination of these troops.
