Sikorski noted that Poland's role in world politics is growing, and with it the importance of border regions. – You are doing something for the whole country, but for the first time since the end of the Cold War we feel the breath of global conflict so clearly on our backs – he said.

— I hope that no one needs to be convinced that a free Ukraine is Poland's raison d'état. It's better to have an independent, pro-European Ukraine on the border than Putin's tanks, he emphasized.
Sikorski's visit to Przemyśl took place at a time of growing international tensions and discussions about further support for Kiev. The head of diplomacy clearly emphasized that Poland remains on Ukraine's side – for both moral and strategic reasons.
