On May 17, in the Taras Shevchenko Park in Odessa, a Ukrainian record was set for the largest gathering of French bulldogs in one place. This was reported by representatives of the National Register of Records of Ukraine.
“The Ukrainian record was set in the category “Mass events, animals”. Recorded indicators: the total number of French bulldog dogs on one site is 357 dogs,” the statement says.
The achievement was recorded at the initiative of the dog owner community BULLDOGPARTY_OD during the 10th meeting of French bulldog owners in Odessa.
In a commentary for Suspilny, community leader and event organizer Eduard Tarasenko noted that owners of French bulldogs often treat their pets as family members.
“These are more like children, this is not a dog, this is a child, they need their own approach,” Tarasenko noted.
According to him, the main goal of the event was not only to set a record, but also to raise funds for charity for the Lyubov Laska shelter, which cares for abandoned animals and those evacuated from the war zone.
This is the first time such a record has been recorded in Ukraine. The founder of the Unified Database of Records of Ukraine, Stanislav Bychai, noted that such events can popularize charitable initiatives and unite people around helping animals.
“It was brave, it was fun, it was creative. The charitable purpose of the event increases its weight and relevance in these difficult times and will help attract a wide audience to such events,” Bychai emphasized.
According to Suspilny, to officially record the record, participants gathered at the location for more than two and a half hours. Only French bulldogs were included in the count, although owners of other dog breeds also joined the event.
Animal owners from different cities of Ukraine, in particular from Nikolaev, Kharkov, Dnieper, Kyiv and Kherson, joined the event, the media writes.
During the event, professional dog handlers worked on the territory, advising owners on the education and behavior of animals.
Only vaccinated dogs that had been treated for parasites were allowed to participate.
