“Javelin instead of sheets.” Vance said that no one has done more for Ukraine than Trump

US Vice President J.D. Vance believes that no American president has done more to ensure that Ukraine can withstand the Russian invasion than the current head of the White House, Donald Trump. He expressed this opinion during a conversation with reporters on May 19, which was broadcast on the Trump residence channel on YouTube.

According to Vence, the 44th US President Barack Obama gave Kyiv “sheets,” while Trump gave Javelin man-portable anti-tank missile systems, which helped preserve Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty.

Vance's comment came amid a question about reports of an alleged halt in the deployment of American troops in Poland. The journalist asked the vice president whether such steps do not mean “punishing” US allies in Europe and “rewarding” the aggressor country, Russia.

In response, Vance emphasized that United States foreign policy is aimed primarily at national interests, and not at “rewarding Putin” or “punishing Poland,” which he called an ally and friend of the United States. Vance emphasized that Washington supports both Warsaw and European countries in general.

“Poland is capable of defending itself with significant U.S. support. We're not talking about withdrawing all U.S. troops from Europe. We're talking about reallocating some resources to maximize American security. I don't think that's a bad thing for Europe. It encourages Europe to take more responsibility. The United States can't be the world's policeman. We want to be good allies,” Vance explained.

He also denied information about the reduction of the American contingent in Poland by 4 thousand military personnel, explaining that this is not a reduction, but a temporary delay in the rotation of units. According to him, this is a standard technical procedure that does not mean a change in US policy.
