Doctors' salaries are much higher than the minimum. This is how much they will earn after the raises
Data on the earnings of public health service employees are carefully collected by the Agency for Health Technology Assessment and Tariff System (AOTMiT).
According to the analyzes included in the report from February 2026, obtained by “Rzeczpospolita” based on data from 538 facilities (approx. 96% of the hospital network), the actual salaries of full-time employees differ significantly from the statutory minimum.

From July 1, 2026 minimum wages in health care will increase by 8.82%.which is a direct result of the increase in the average salary in the national economy for 2025. After this indexation a full-time doctor with specialization will have to earn at least PLN 12,910 gross. In fact, the average earnings of such a specialist – including on-call duties and internship allowances – amount to as much as PLN 24,044.76 gross.
The lowest-paid one-quarter of medics receives an average of PLN 15,759.32, while the highest-paid 25 percent. collects over PLN 29,030.77 gross. However, it is worth remembering that only about 24,000 people work full-time. specialists (one quarter), and the rest choose contracts.
How much do a doctor without specialization and an intern earn?
Clear differences are also visible in other medical groups. Doctors without specialization From July, full-time employees will not be able to earn less than PLN 10,595.24 gross. However, hospital practice shows that their average salary is PLN 18,355.49 gross, and the national elite in this category exceeds PLN 21,608.52.

The earnings of the youngest staff are less spectacular. The Act guarantees trainee doctors an increase in the minimum salary in the second half of the year from PLN 7,772.63 to PLN 8,458.38 gross. In turn, actual salaries residents do not differ much from this ceiling, being at the average level of PLN 9,797.14 gross.
Financial situation of nurses and medical staff
The trend of “earnings above the minimum” also applies to other medical professions, including nurses, midwives, pharmacists, physiotherapists, diagnosticians and clinical psychologists (approximately 59,000 employees in total).
After the July increase a nurse with a master's degree and specialization will receive a guaranteed gross PLN 11,485.59. However, AOTMiT data reveal that the average salary in this group is PLN 15,303.80, and the highest earners are 25%. nurses receive salaries exceeding PLN 16,398.49 gross.
In case nurses with a master's degree or specialization alone, the July minimum will be PLN 9,081.63 with the actual average of PLN 11,508.73. The lowest basic salary will be awarded to nurses with bachelor's or secondary education without specialization – from July it will be PLN 8,369.35 gross, although in reality they currently earn on average PLN 11,052.49 gross.
