Researchers say whether Russians now have more money in their wallets

Russians have become more likely to keep cash on them. Over six months, the average amount in wallets increased by 23%, according to a SuperJob study.

According to the service, now an economically active Russian on average carries 4,300 rubles with him. In October 2025, this figure was 3,500 rubles. At the same time, 27% of respondents reported that they do not take cash with them at all.

Men, on average, carry more cash than women. Men usually have about 5,100 rubles with them, women have 3,100 rubles. The amount also depends on age. Young people under 35 years of age are often limited to 2,100 rubles. Russians over 45 years old keep an average of 4,800 rubles with them.

People with high incomes also carry more cash. Respondents with a salary of 150 thousand rubles per month carry an average of 5,800 rubles. At the same time, 5% of them keep more than 20 thousand rubles in their wallet. In six million-plus cities, the average amount of cash was the same. Residents of Moscow, Voronezh, Kazan, Yekaterinburg, Rostov-on-Don and Krasnodar carry 4,500 rubles with them.

Residents of Moscow and St. Petersburg more often refuse cash completely. Nizhny Novgorod residents are the least likely to go without banknotes and coins, but their amount is usually less, about 3,500 rubles.

The survey was conducted from May 4 to May 7, 2026. 11.6 thousand Russians over 18 years old from all districts of the country took part in it.
